Our principal, Scot Musser, answers several questions about the new situation we are facing.
What action is LIFE International School taking regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19)?
Since the closing down of schools by the Spanish government on March 11, 2020, LIFE teachers have been teaching our students remotely. We are committed to providing students with the best education possible in spite of school closures. Teachers have worked hard to offer as comprehensive of a program as possible during these extraordinary circumstances. Parents have worked closely with teachers to assure that all students have continued learning and progressing in their academic development. All teachers and students are using the same platform. They use an online tool to create, distribute and grade assignments in a paperless way as well as maximize communication between parents and teachers.
What PLAN of action is LIFE International School considering with a view toward reopening?
LIFE International School recognizes that we need to craft a “new normal” to serve our students and families in the midst of this challenging time. We are committed to the same values of strong academic achievement and character development, but we recognize that those goals will need to be achieved in new ways. Here are some of the ways LIFE will address the challenges presented to us by Covid-19.
LIFE School will follow all the protocols of security and hygiene established by the Ministry of Health and the Comunidad de Madrid. It includes social distancing, additional cleaning and disinfection, and hygiene requirements and etiquette to ensure the maximum level of health and security for our students and staff.
Here is what our parents have shared in their anonymous evaluation of the school’s response to this challenging season of education:
“You are doing a great job!! The teachers are giving their all. Thank you very much for your great effort. We will come out of this stronger!! “
“Congratulations LIFE team! You have done a great job during this crisis. Thank you for your tremendous work and dedication”
“I want to point out that our family recognizes the great effort of the teachers who have adapted the hands on learning curriculum to online learning in record time. Every day we are seeing improvement in many ways.”
“Thank you very much for the effort and dedication of the teachers, in spite of the distance, that is so evident.”
