It has been one-and-a-half school years since our family left the U.S. to attend school in Spain. While it would be inaccurate to say there haven’t been challenges, our two boys have immensely enjoying living in Spain and attending school at LIFE. From the smiling and welcoming faces of the staff to classmates who have become friends, our boys are so grateful for the opportunity that they have at LIFE and in Spain.
The truth is: many American families never leave the U.S. They may go on a Caribbean cruise or take a trip to Europe, but their intentions are to return right back to the U.S. There are also many American families in the U.S. that choose to never leave the U.S., ever! One of the things that’s most important to our little family is to experience this great big world that God has created.
In our eyes, if you don’t take the time to see what He created outside of your circle, you’re missing so many of the works He did. We are so grateful to have a full immersion experience into the Spanish lifestyle here in Madrid, from attending a school with daily Spanish language enrichment to competing alongside our barrio’s futbol team.
When I have the chance to talk about our experience with other American parents considering a move abroad, whether long or short-term, I encourage them to take these next steps in obedience. There will be trials, frustrations and set backs – but so much growth comes in those things!
Thank you, LIFE family, for your warm welcome of all American families attending LIFE such as my own. We’re so grateful to share a little bit of our life with you.
